The e-Canter. Industry Pioneer


The emission free electrically-powered truck made by FUSO is playing a big part in the market of electric mobility and is revolutionizing the sustainable mobility market.

FUSO have been introducing advances to the field of hybrid motor technology since 1994, and in 2010 they launched the Canter E-CELL to take us another step towards the future of transport. Thanks to the E-CELL, fully electric and emission-free transport is suitable for short-radius distribution (with a maximum range of 120 km). The Canter E-CELL uses lithium-ion batteries to drive a powerful 70 kW electric motor, offering substantial starting torque, constant output and formidable pulling power. On a charge that takes just 6 hours, Canter hybrid trucks can cover 120 emission-free kilometres, making it a viable solution for most short-radius distribution applications. The Canter E-CELL also means zero local emissions in future.

Industry pioneer in the E-mobility sector

The eCanter convinces with an optimized power-train with an electric motor of 115 kW connected to the reduction gear which transfers the power to the wheels via the propeller shaft and rear axle. The total weight allowance is 7.49 t with a loading capacity of up to 4.5 t and is therefore exempt from toll in Germany. 

The state-of-the art battery pack consists of 100 Li-ion cells that deliver a maximum voltage of 420 V and a 13.8 kWh of energy per pack. The battery charger supports both AC and DC charging via the CCS type 2 interface for the EU region. Thus, 80% of charging is possible in 1 h (DC) and 9 h (AC). The modular battery concept is adaptable to the customer needs and is produced with modern manufacturing methods.

In comparison you will have 30 % less maintenance costs and potential fuel savings of 1,000 euros per 10,000 km depending on diesel and power prices. The additional costs of an acquisition will be amortized after about 3 years. 

The eCanter also convinces on a design point of view besides technical features. The futuristic cabin design combines functionality with comfort. Driver oriented design, equipped with 12” displays, push start, button shift and comfortable seats. Adaptive lighting ensures car like ambience.

Charging is also possible on conventional sockets. Relevant for the efficiency of an electrically powered vehicle fleet is the perfect balance of loading times, electricity prices, electricity demand, as well as the technical infrastructure. Intelligent connection between digitalization and connectivity

By merging elements of both digitalization and connectivity, FUSO offers a brand new interface and user experience on a 12” tablet. Drivers will be provided with more accurate and reliable information via the new digital instrument panel. Drive position of the vehicle can be selected by P, D, N, R.

Another benefit of the eCanter is the comfortable usage. The keyless push start of the system supports the electric drive experience and convenience for drivers in terms of hassle-free operation compared to a conventional truck.
